For generations a family of chemists, with a passion for farming and olive growing, the Titone farm was founded in 1936 by Nicolò Titone, the current owner’s father, in the lands between Trapani and Marsala.
It was amongst the first farms in Sicily to implement organic farming. Since the eighties, it began reclaiming and making use of natural resources. For example, it uses traps for olive fruit flies that have a low impact on the environment, as scientifically recognized by the University of Palermo in 2005.
Since 1992, all stages of the growing and processing cycles are supervised and certified according to the European standards for organic farming, as well as the USDA–NOP standards. The farm recently started complying with the ISO 9001:2000 ISO 14001:2004 systems and UNI 10939:2001 production traceability.
