Ghizzano is a small hill town, halfway between Florence and Pisa, at an altitude of approximately 200 metres. Long ago, this part of Tuscany was under the sea, and the soil is still littered with many fossilized sea-shells.
The family that now owns the estate came to Ghizzano near the end of the 14th century, focusing their activity on vineyards and olive growing.
Today, the Ghizzano Estate spans approximately 350 hectares, of which 18 are vineyards, 25 are olive groves, 150 grow cereal crops and 150 are forests and poplar groves.
Since the renovation of the old farmhouses, the estate now welcomes agricultural tourists, who can still today admire the original traditional rural architecture.
