Rosa Laino

The farm’s operations began in the 1960s when Giuseppe Giovazzini planted the first 150 olive trees. The main business was local olive oil cultivation, production and marketing. During the 1980s, Giuseppe’s son, Pietro, increased cultivation. By 1997 the farm totaled 2100 trees, as a result of new installations added by grandson Giuseppe and his wife, Rosa. In 1999, a mill was built in order to manage and implement all processing phases on the farm. In recent years, great-grandchildren, Pietro and Emilia, after obtaining university degrees, have devoted themselves to the family business, introducing bottling to the work cycle and developing a commercial brand which has allowed them to market their product both in Italy and abroad. The farm is located between Mount Pollino National Park and the Sibari Plain, a former Greek colony, where numerous archaeological remains of the ancient city have been discovered. Nearby, there is also the “Grotta delle Ninfe” (Cave of Nymphs), whose sulfurous springs comprise a thermal spa of the same name. Numerous cultural attractions are located in the area, such as the Saint Mary of the Arms sanctuary and the Pignatelli Feudal Palace. The farm is easily reachable from Superhighway (S.S.) 106, the main road in the Ionian area that connects with Highways A3 (Tirrenica) and A14 (Adriatica).
