San Comaio - Zahir
The farm was established in 1975, when the Caruso family took over an old oil mill and started their oil production. In 1980, the facility changed, moving from the old town centre to just outside of town. In 1997, so as to increase production, the family took over an old oil mill in the neighbouring municipality of Villanova del Battista. In 2002 the Carusos realized that it was time for a radical change. In recent years, oil production technology has witnessed the development of new equipment and facilities that merge high standards of quality, improved hygiene conditions and a reduction of manual labour. With a considerable financial effort, they decided to purchase the new high quality technology; their current production and bottling facility was born. The facility and its olive groves are located in the heart of the new PDO “Irpinia- Colline dell’Ufita” area, in the Zungoli and Villanova del Battista municipalities. The farm’s olive groves and its processing facilities operate in compliance with Organic Farming standards.
